A DREAM COME TRUE….

The Dream Lives On is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that grants dreams to adults, age 18 years and older, who have been diagnosed with a year or less to live. We seek to improve the quality of life for these remarkable individuals in our community while helping to create lasting memories.

While granting dreams, The Dream Lives On also provides a variety of services for individuals that are not able to travel due to medical commitments and/or restrictions. We recognize that a catastrophic illness puts any plan beyond the reach of almost every household – whether from emotional or financial devastation. We are dedicated to helping families during this difficult time.

HOW WE STARTED
The Dream Lives On was founded in 2007 by Michele Bruchhauser and is dedicated to the memory of her loving husband David Bruchhauser. In April of 2007, Dave passed away after losing his battle with cancer. He was only 53 years old. Being diagnosed with less than a year to live, Dave & Michele received several acts of kindness and were determined to pass it on. The Dream Lives On represents Dave’s dream of helping others.

ABOUT DAVE
Dave moved to Alaska in 1973 and worked odd jobs until joining the Fairbanks Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 375 in 1975. As an apprentice pipefitter, Dave worked on the trans-Alaska pipeline during the pipeline boom and became a journeymen pipefitter in 1978. Dave continued working as a general foreman on several jobs in the Prudhoe Bay area.

He returned to college at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and graduated with a bachelor’s of business administration degree with a major in accounting in 1991. He was hired by the CPA firm of Ernst & Young and started a career as a certified public accountant and financial controller. He held several managerial positions, the most recent being accounting supervisor for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.

Dave's first love was racquetball. He played competitively and was one of the state’s known players. His love for the outdoors led him to enjoy golfing, fishing, softball and snowmachining.
